Bismillah

Published by Asma Maryam Ali at 10:28 pm under Uncategorized

May Allah (SWT) SWT accept this effort and bless it. Please feel free to comment on or question anything you like :)

Words are indeed risky business to me, so I hesitate (and hesitate and hesitate) to write anything.

I heard a beautiful khatira from a dear sister last night after isha. She reminded us that ikhlas (usually translated as sincerity) really means loyalty to Allah (SWT) SWT. It is, in essence, to commit our hearts solely to Him. How can we make this act desirable to ourselves when there are so many objects of love out there?

I benefitted from this prayer:

 (My Lord,)

If I could only find sweetness in You while the rest of life is bitter,
And if You would only be pleased with me though the rest are angry.
If only my relationship with You would flourish,
Even as the rest of my world crumbles.
If I know of Your love then all else is easy,
For everything on this earth is nothing more than dust.

(From ‘Ikhlas: Reflections on Sincerity’ by Yusuf Al-Qaradawi)

The beauty of these words are their focus: the abd is more in search of the love of His Lord, than detachment from this world. He sees something beyond the world that makes the world miniscule in his eyes.

May we all find the love of Allah (SWT) SWT in our lives.

    Salaam Asma,
Alhamdulillah I am so happy that you have started blogging. Although I haven’t been in touch, I miss you tremendously, and knowing that you have this blog is reassuring :) I wish you all the best with this endeavor Inshallah.

    Salaamies

Thank you all my dears for posting. SubhanAllah, Bilqis is reunited here :D Your comments mean a lot to me so continue to post them, please. Soon I’ll be writing about MSA, my sisters, and topics on your blogs, so stay posted!

Humairah, thank you for asking :) I guess the name is my name. I fear that if I gave it a name it’d be defined by the name. On the other hand, giving it my name is defining me. Yikes! If you have any suggestions, send them. And no Khals, a jigsaw puzzle that’s all sky won’t work.

    Love,
    Asma

    Assalam alikum everyone!
It is so good to see the old good names again! I have to confess “all this bolg, blog thing is new to me, or probably I am growing too old to follow on the “hip”technology! Anyhow it seems that it is getting us together, which is great!
May Allah (SWT) bless this initiative, inshaAllah it will be a venue to strenghten our sisterhood and share what we “once” enjoyed: the long chats!!!

    Asalam Walaikum wa Rahmatullah,

Well, it took me a while to get here, but Alhamdulillah I’ve had a chance to go visit and read your blog posts and those of others, mashaAllah. Getting to know individuals through their written expressions truly is an interesting experience giving us perspective and sometimes even being able to relate parts of ourself that don’t come out through casual conversations. I pray that we are all able to benefit from the words shared here, Ameen. :)
